Playlists removing songs after approving

Feature Request

So I have had a bunch of my songs get approved within the last month of so. Nearly all of them have removed the approved songs from their playlists again. Is this accepted behaviour? What is the point of paying money to get added to playlists then? One curator literally emailed me after approval and warned me the song would only stay on for 7 days lol. This seems like a huge waste of money and is hugely misleading.

    Curators on DailyPlaylists do have full control over their playlists, including how long a track stays on. That said, removing tracks shortly after approval (e.g. within a few days) is not the kind of experience we aim to support, especially if it’s being communicated upfront as a short-term placement.

    We actively monitor curator behaviour, and patterns like this can be reviewed. If a curator is consistently adding tracks only to remove them quickly, it may impact their standing on the platform.

    A couple of important clarifications:

    • Placements are not guaranteed to be permanent

    • Playlists are often updated regularly to keep engagement high

    • However, placements should still provide genuine exposure and value, not just a temporary add

    If you can share the specific playlists or curators involved, we can investigate this further and take action where needed.

      The most recent playlist I was approved for is CITY OF MUSIC (MIX) and this is an excerpt of what they wrote me in their approval message:

      “I want to warn you that if your song is accepted, it will stay 7-10 days in our playlists, but don't worry you can submit it as many times as you like”

      I understand placements cannot be guaranteed to be permanent and this is not an attempt to ding the curator above or get them into trouble. I am simply wondering what is considered normal?

      What is DP’s official definition of a temporary add? I’d just like to understand what is considered normal as this is my first time using a service like this and a week to a month feels pretty temporary to me.

        Hi!

        Great question, and totally understandable if you're new to submitting.

        To give you a concrete answer: on our end, we flag curators who add and remove tracks immediately or within just a few days (that's the behaviour we consider a red flag). A 7–10 day placement, like the one you received, is okay, but we encourage keeping them for a bit more time.

        There's no single industry standard for how long a placement lasts. Curators manage their playlists independently and rotate tracks at their own pace to keep their audiences engaged. What matters to us is that the placement is genuine.

        The value of a placement is ultimately in the streams and exposure it generates while your track is featured, not just the number of days.

        Please also note, if they are asking you for payment per placement for x amount of time, that’s considered payola and not allowed under Spotify’s or ours policies.
